Down by the Bay
Block Fabric: Please stop by the Aurora Colony Museum to pick up a piece of fabric or call to have one mailed to you.
Please Note: Blocks are due back to the Museum by Sunday, October 18th at 5pm.
Block Contest Inspiration:
Down by the Bay invites you to explore your creativity while celebrating an important part of Aurora Colony history. Before founding Aurora in the Willamette Valley, the scout group selected a site near Willapa Bay in Washington Territory. Although the location ultimately proved unsuitable, it marked s significant step in the colony's journey to Aurora.
Let the water, shoreline, wildlife, boats, or the spirit of new beginnings inspire your quilt block. Use fabric, color, and pattern to tell your own story of Down by the Bay and honor the history, beauty, and imagination that connect the bay to the Aurora Colony.
Judging
Twenty winning squares will be pieced, and hand quilted by the Old Aurora Colony Hand Quilters, then raffled as a fundraiser for the museum during the 2027 Old Aurora Colony Museum Quilt Show. Winners receive a thank you gift.
Quilt Blocks are due at the Museum no later than 5pm on Sunday, October 18th for judging. Winners will be announced following the show.
