Description
Kinusaiga translates to "silk color printing" and is a Japanese technique where fabric is fitted into tiny grooves cut into a board to create a picture. No sewing. Created in 1987 and credited to Maeno Setsu, a Japanese artist born in Nagoya in 1961. Maeno was interested in Kimekomi, an older Japanese technique where fabric was pressed into three-dimensional form, but Maeno wanted to create pictures by making the designs flat. Kimekomi goes back to the Edo Period - the 18th century. Using easily accessible items, anyone can create beautiful Kinusaiga pictures.

Come to this 3-hour class to learn the basics and leave with an 8" x 8" completed project. All supplies are provided for you including a list of supplies that you can take to create your own works of art after the class. Don't expect perfection from yourself...you're learning...enjoy the process. Beginners welcome!
This class is offered twice; students attend one session only.

Carrie started quilting in 2016 after a friend’s mom was diagnosed with cancer. Wanting to bring her comfort during chemotherapy, she made her first quilt. That project sparked a passion that grew as she explored modern, traditional, and art quilting. Today, she creates meaningful quilts that blend creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
Class Location & Check-in
All classes will be held at the Will Family Center located at 21555 Main St NE, Aurora, OR 97002. (Behind Well Rooted Salon & Boutique). If you are pre-registered, there is no need to check in at the Museum.
Directions from the Museum: Exit the Museum and turn left on 2nd Street. Cross Highway 99 at the crosswalk and turn left on Main Street. Follow sidewalk along the left side of Well Rooted to the entrance of the Will Family Center. About a 3-minute walk (2½ blocks) from the Museum.
Parking: Please park along 2nd St. NE, north of the Will Family Center, and leave Main Street parking available for customers of nearby businesses.
Refund Policy
Tickets are nonrefundable. If a class is canceled by the Museum due to low enrollment, presenter cancellation, weather, or other circumstances, ticket holders will receive a full refund.
